This is a 10' Star Model 12
open double back geared steel windmill on a modified Elgin steel tower.

Location: SPWA park

This windmill was originally installed about 1914 on a farm near Boise City, Oklahoma. It was taken down about 1947 and put up on the J.B. Buchanan farm in his collection in June of 1986.

It has gone through extensive restoration,
including straightening blades and tail, rebabbiting bearings, machining new shafting, painting and lettering the tail. This work has been done by the following:
Terry Schneider, J.D. Wilbanks, Don Reed, and Dwayne Mitchell.

This is the only windmill in the SPWA collection
that was raised then lowered for a slight modification and then raised for a second time on the same day.
