18' Railroad Eclipse

~*~
This is a 18' Wood (Railroad) Eclipse mill on a double wood tower.

Location:  SPWA Park

These windmills were first built in1867, mainly for use by the railroads to furnish large amounts of water for steam engines.

J.B. found this windmill west of Dalhart, Texas. It took him 3 years to rebuild it. It was the 7th mill to be erected on his farm Southwest of Spearman. H&H Water Well Service raised it for him.

The SPWA volunteers spent five months rebuilding this mill in 2004. It is now the star attraction in the SPWA Park.
